All eyes on Nordic Local Finance managers and Kenneth Thu

During 8-10th November the Nordic Finance Operations team hosted very important visitors Kenneth Thu Nordic CFO; Fredrik Peterson, Local Finance Manager Sweden; Martin Jensen, local Finance Manager Norway and his Finance Controller Malene Larsen Kristiansen; Aldo Scotta Local Finance Manager Denmark and his Finance Controller Kristian Moller; and Matias Roune Local Finance Manager Finland. This was a great milestone for us as this was historically the first opportunity to meet our Nordic Business Partners in person.

During these 3 days the visitors were introduced to the CoE history, each team had the opportunity to present its organisation, projects, KPI’s, operational updates, to talk about performed tasks and also to use this opportunity to ask for help in problematic cases such as building up cooperation with stores, escalation path etc.

The feedback from Local Finance Managers was that our business partners have no clear understanding of roles and responsibilities across the Nordic Finance teams. This is why one of the action points was to prepare a guide which should help them to allocate correct contact persons. In case of escalations there will be Ambassadors appointed who will operate as a single point of contact for each of the business partners. Michaela Boudova will be an Ambassador for Finland Finance, Katarina Vavrova will be an Ambassador for Denmark Finance, Michal Krajcik for Sweden and Jana Gajdosikova for Norway and Group issues

A very important part of this visit was the opportunity for LFM to meet people they are in contact with on a daily basis and put a face behind an email address. Aside of official management meetings and presentations, the visitors attended number of team meetings such as a lunch with team leaders, lunch with top talents but also (or best of all) unofficial evening spent in Na Stojaka where they, after some hesitation, sang Elkjop hymn that is usually sang on big Elkjop events while standing on chairs. This time they did not stand on chairs (there are no chairs in Na Stojaka), but maybe next time…

The visit was rounded off with a business update by Kenneth Thu in which he explained the business strategy and trends in the Nordic market.

Reactions of some people:

Michal Krajcik:  I am really happy that this first big step was made for our future cooperation with the countries.

Robert Bohac: We are happy that people from the Nordic part of the business finally came to visit and showed us what they do and vice versa. This will help us to avoid situations when, in the past, it was sometimes unclear who is responsible for which tasks. We hope it will get only better after this visit.

Zdenek Zemanek: I am glad that I met Aldo Scoppa and Kristian Moller and discussed the outstanding Denmark Month End issues and now, after our discussions those can be finally resolved.

Jane Oellan: We in the Expense team are happy that we had the opportunity to discuss issues resulting in backlog in Reminders and Interest notes with representatives from Norway and Sweden and established a communication channel with them.

Jana Gajdosikova: It was really pleasure to have the local finance managers and Kenneth over. It enabled us to get to share information about our day to day work and know each other. Their views, questions and feedback help us to shape our understanding about what is important for for business and how should we operate so that we add value to Nordics. There is a lot of learnings and number of actions across all teams will follow.
