The story of Dixons Charity Concert

Do you remember refreshing charity sangria served during our Dixons summer BBQ? And do you remember the purpose of these charity activities? That time you voted for Kosmak´s family life story with three disabled triplets who need a very difficult and expensive surgery. Thanks to you all we could have handed in amazing 15 022 CZK to a touched mother of these nice triplets.

After hearing out the details of their every day troubles we decided to help even more and organize the Dixons Charity Concert dedicated to Kosmak´s triplets. Jana Machackova, our great Office coordinator, gathered talented Dixons volunteers who sing or play different instruments. The result of her effort was: 10 band members, 5 training hours, 2 concerts with two different bands, 160 visitors and wonderful 20 203 CZK in our hands. That makes together with our summer BBQ 35 225 CZK, which is, we believe, a good base for the planned surgery. Huge thanks goes to all organizers, participants and contributors for this incredible social effect!

As the most of you had a chance to participate as the audience during the concert, we decided it would be more enriching for you to get some information from the backstage. That’s why we asked a few questions Kamila Burgetova, the singer from the Validation team:

How did you turn out to be a charity singer?

I was asked by the colleague of mine who plays the guitar. In fact he simply announced to me that I will be singing in some kind of concert and that I’m already registered J I couldn’t say no. Afterwards I realized that I will have to postpone my holiday I was planning for the week the concert took place. But I didn’t regret it at all!

What did you get from this experience?

I have never performed in front of so many people that are familiar to me – the most difficult was to concentrate on the singing itself in the time of tension when one gets nervous. Besides singing I realized that the important aspect of performing is to be able to present the song idea to the audience and pass on them some of your emotions.

What would you like to say to the visitors and organizers?

I’m glad that so many people from the company were interested and came to support a good thing. And I hope they enjoyed it as much as we did! Great ideas, big heart and strong voice – thank you Jana!!!

Do you want to add anything?

Big thanx to Tomas Grandic and Jakub Pecek for their pure punk hearts, Jakub Stanek for his quitar support and Tibor Fillinger – the rhythm & beats specialist! Speaking for all members of RooFighters - it was a pleasure for us to be forerunners of Jana’s Not-Ready-Yet band! J
