ACCA studies

We love to develop our employees. Most of the senior positions within the company are filled by internal promotions, therefore we want to make sure our employees are highly qualified and have a chance to develop in many different areas.
In Finance, the company supports colleagues in key finance roles to go through ACCA Qualification courses. ACCA is the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and is the globally recognised leader of accountancy qualifications.

Our stories

Dalibor Brkic - Financial Control Manager

I joined the company in 2010 as an Associate in UK&I Expenses team. I landed my current role after several internal moves, including the 6-month secondment in the UK in 2015. In this role I am responsible for business partner management, working on the Director’s CoE strategic team and I also hold a vast interest in Dixons UK&I Balance Sheet agenda.

What I like about Dixons is the environment in which we operate, people we work with and the development opportunities waiting for those ready to embrace them.

I believe that the environment gives our colleagues the freedom to shape up their own professional destiny. Upon joining, I wasn’t really sure what it was I wanted to do next, I played it by the ear and here I am today, with an exciting work and a clear career path.

None of the above would have been possible without being surrounded by great colleagues of present and past. The centre is still relatively young and there is a hard road towards establishing the CoE’s operating model. The management can decide all we want, but it requires a right blend of talent to make this happen in practice. I believe we have the right people across all levels to set ourselves on this fantastic journey and achieve something special, something we can all be proud of in the future.

And finally, the development opportunities have improved significantly since I joined the company. Some of this is due to increased scope of work, meaning that there is a greater choice of roles to choose from for our colleagues today. The training offer has also evolved, where the standard set of soft and hard skills trainings has been enriched with opportunities to achieve life-long professional qualifications. Hopefully we will be able to add more in the future to further facilitate our Employer of Choice status.
